Citizenship & passport
Following approval, the applicant is registered as a Turkish citizen and applies for a passport under the official procedure.
TÜRKİYE · CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT
Plan Turkish citizenship for your family through a qualifying bank deposit or property investment.
THE PROGRAMME
Investors and eligible family members may apply under Türkiye’s exceptional citizenship provisions through a qualifying bank deposit or property purchase. The relevant authority confirms the investment; the Ministry of Interior reviews the citizenship application and submits it for Presidential approval.
Following approval, the applicant is registered as a Turkish citizen and applies for a passport under the official procedure.
A spouse and the applicant’s or spouse’s children under 18 may apply together. Adult children within the statutory dependent-child category require a separate review of eligibility and supporting evidence.
Both routes require a holding commitment of at least three years. Dates follow the bank’s deposit commitment or the property’s registered restriction, separately from the citizenship processing period.

TWO INVESTMENT ROUTES
Compare the use of capital, holding conditions and ongoing responsibilities.
01 / BANK DEPOSIT
Meet the investment requirement through a qualifying deposit.
USD 500,000 is the currency unit used to express the statutory threshold. Under the bank’s published procedure for new applications, the funds are converted into Turkish lira and held in lira for the three-year commitment. Obtain written confirmation of the account currency, committed amount and holding dates before depositing.

Exchange-rate movements, bank risk and charges may affect the foreign-currency value recovered at the end of the holding period.
02 / REAL ESTATE
Meet the investment requirement by acquiring qualifying property.
Before payment, a Turkish-qualified lawyer reviews the property and transaction documents, including the following matters.

Property prices, exchange rates, rental demand and resale conditions vary; rental, appreciation and buyback expectations should be assessed against market and contractual conditions.
These are the minimum investment amounts for each route; other costs are additional. Deposit and property amounts cannot be combined to meet a route’s threshold.
ELIGIBILITY & FAMILY
Family relationships, personal background and reliable documentation matter alongside the investment.
Confirm identity, nationality and relevant background. Applicants must present no obstacle to national security or public order.
A spouse and the applicant’s or spouse’s children under 18 may apply together. Adult children within the statutory dependent-child category require a separate review of eligibility and supporting evidence. Parents and siblings are outside the accompanying-family category.
Verify the source of funds, bank credits and payment trail. Account opening, transfers and property eligibility each require the relevant bank or authority’s checks.
Common documents include passports, birth and civil-status records, evidence of family relationships, photographs and fee receipts. Foreign documents require the applicable certification and Turkish translations.

CAPITAL & COMMITMENT
Investment capital, government charges and service fees are listed separately and confirmed in writing before signing.
A deposit goes into an eligible bank account; property capital purchases real estate. Neither is a donation to the government.
Confirm government and document charges, translation, certification and bank costs. Property also requires a review of taxes, registration, valuation, insurance and ongoing ownership expenses.
Consultation, legal and other service fees follow the respective written agreements, including scope, payment stages and termination provisions.
Complete the qualifying investment and obtain its confirmation before proceeding with the relevant residence and citizenship applications. Investment capital, application charges and service fees are paid at their respective stages.
Maintain the deposit or property for the required commitment of at least three years. An early exit engages the bank undertaking, registered restrictions and continuing investment compliance; the handling lawyer coordinates the applicable procedure with the bank and authority.
After the holding period, follow the bank or land registry’s procedure to release restrictions and withdraw funds or dispose of the property, settling applicable taxes and transaction charges.
Investment confirmation and citizenship approval are separate. A certificate of conformity does not constitute citizenship approval; the Turkish authorities decide the outcome under the law. During the three-year holding period, the qualifying deposit is locked under the bank undertaking and the property is subject to a registered resale restriction. Early release affects investment eligibility; consequences for the application or citizenship already obtained follow applicable law and official procedures. Following refusal, deposit restrictions and withdrawals are handled through the bank and competent authority. Refusal itself does not change ownership of the purchased property. Government charges are treated under the applicable rules, while service-fee refund conditions follow the written service agreement.
QUESTIONS & CLARITY
Investment & funds · Citizenship & family · Process & maintenance
After investment conformity is confirmed, the citizenship application undergoes national-security, public-order and other applicable checks. The Ministry of Interior reviews it and submits it for Presidential approval.
No. Under the bank’s published procedure for new applications, the qualifying funds are converted to Turkish lira and held in lira during the three-year commitment. USD 500,000 expresses the investment threshold; account documentation should record the currency, committed amount and holding dates.
No. The Central Bank terminated new KKM accounts and renewals from 23 August 2025. Its announcement explicitly excluded YUVAM, so it does not establish that all banking products lack exchange-rate protection. YUVAM account eligibility and suitability for a citizenship investment require separate confirmation from the handling bank.
The qualifying amount is determined under TKGM’s current procedure using the citizenship investment-amount determination document (TTB) and the required valuation, bank-payment and title-registration records. The handling lawyer should reconcile these documents against the USD 400,000 minimum and complete the three-year restriction against resale.

The investment route follows exceptional citizenship provisions, rather than the five-year residence and general language conditions for ordinary naturalisation. Applicants still complete investor-category residence formalities, identity checks and required in-person procedures.
Family members must fall within the eligible category, provide relationship and other application documents, and undergo review. A spouse and the applicant’s or spouse’s children under 18 may apply together; adult children in the statutory dependent-child category require a separate eligibility and evidence review.
Türkiye recognises multiple citizenship. Retention of an existing nationality depends on the law of that nationality’s country and must be checked separately.
Three years refers to the holding commitment, with dates recorded in the bank undertaking or property registration documents. Residence and citizenship follow their own procedures; progress depends on document completeness, requests for further information and official review.
Confirm the service provider, division of responsibilities, complete costs, investment recipient and account details, and data-sharing terms. Record scope, payment stages and termination provisions in writing. Verify investment transfers separately from service fees.
The legal basis includes Article 12 of the Turkish Citizenship Law and Article 20 of its Implementing Regulation, as currently amended. Bank operational guidance is listed separately.
